Beyond the shades of grey

This is a book that is based upon Christian fundamentals and beliefs. So I use practical applications of Bible Scripture throughout the book, without religiosity. And I use them to confront various aspects of this very controversial subject, head-on. Therefore, I make no apologies for the portions of this book that may seem to be more graphic in nature than your average "Christian" book usually is. Homosexuality is a subject that absolutely needs to be dealt with truthfully, and without religious avoidance of those kinds of topics and questions that may otherwise seem "inappropriate" to mention within a "Christian" book, or church setting.

You can read the book for free. HERE  is the table of contents.

  1. This book is a fine introduction to 'what homosexuality is not'! Shaw Clifton, John Stott and the American Psychiatry Association and the FSAOF refute this simplistic rendering of the LGBT person's make-up. It's a case where a mass of words seeks to push facts and research aside.

For a more complete, transparent and informative look at this divisive issue within the church (The SA) we invite you to visit the ongoing LGBT series at www.fsaof.blogspot.com. We share the findings, instructions and thoughts of leading SA and other church spokes people. The SA Positional statement and definitions are at complete odds with the book's section: Homosexuality Defined.

We're grateful that the book was featured so that we can respond with the SA's own, and very different translation.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Sven for your comment. I found a link to this book in a comment on your blog fsaof.blogspot.com. I have not read the whole book. I glanced at some chapters in the book and found some interesting points of view that I often miss in this conversation.
When you talk of SA positional statements on ethical issues I cannot find any on the international web-page. As far as I know there are only territorial positional statements today.
If there are international positional statements where do I find them?

  2. Peter, the one to which I referred is found in Shaw Clifton's Selected Writing, Volume 1, p. 123. where he writes; "the official Salvation Army approach to the matter is set out in Positional Statements (IHQ 1980), remembering he wrote the article in 1983. There have been revisions, however, many of us are eagerly awaiting the 'new' statements promised by Linda Bond, and in which some anticipated a possible change. That will, of course, be an international Positional Statement. One must wonder if IHQ is being held up by the very strongly held fundamentalist view among African and some SE Asia territories?

For the record, and I have not shared my position in my blog as I want to maintain a spirit of neutrality, is very much Army- adherence yes, but soldiership, involved in local sections, corps LO or officer only if celibate. Blessings.
